Hosting venture feasibility
The client wanted an evaluation of a plan to build a server room and offer hosting services. We analyzed the factors that would decide whether the venture could be profitable: market conditions, labour costs, power costs, and hardware costs—so leadership could choose with numbers, not optimism.
A secondary objective was evaluating the client’s e-commerce requirements and proposing a way forward. That work was complicated by distributed staff, an international customer base, and the need to support multiple foreign currencies in the same commercial flow.
We proposed a solution on Google App Engine with auction, escrow, forex, and video upload features—matched to how the business actually sold and settled across borders, rather than a generic storefront that would break on currency or trust.
When we left, the client had a clear read on whether a private hosting room made financial sense, and a concrete platform proposal for international commerce that accounted for people, currencies, and the product features their market required.
